Thus an every changing group backed Tammany Hall. Immigrants came to America dirt poor, so Tammany Hall provided basic needs in return for their vote (Myers, 2005: 128-129). For example, a faster naturalization process was put in place by William M. Tweed by creating committees to pay fees, fill out forms, or get witnesses. The Judges had to grant citizenship because the Tammany Hall provided the immigrant with everything (Connable and Silber farb, 1967:154). This started the political corruption and favors for votes. There are many instances of grafting and political corruption within the time Tammany Hall had influenced, two instances will be examined; the Harlem gangs in the 1920’s and Judge Joseph Crater. The Harlem gangs were controlled by Dutch Schultz (Bell, 2009). What history has forgotten was James J. Hines, the Democratic Party boss located in Manhattan (Bell, 2009). The Estate Tax Essay -- Argumentative Persuasive Papers Politics

The Estate Tax Have you heard the phrase "No taxation without representation"? It was the common cry of the colonists before the revolutionary war. The colonists did not want to be taxed by England if they were not allowed to vote in the English elections. England’s refusal to allow them to vote was a major reason the colonists decided to create their own government. When this new government was first created it did not tax those people that were not allowed to vote. Then things changed; in 1916 the estate tax was created. (The estate tax is a levy that taxes deceased people’s estates if it is worth more than $675,00.) If one is to remain true to the American ideal of "no taxation without representation," the estate tax should be lifted. Dead people are not allowed to vote and, therefore, should not be taxed. Sadly many people no longer care what principles America was founded on. So I shall expound upon other reasons to repeal the "death" tax. The reasons being: it makes it difficult to pass on family farms, it taxes the dead, it has outlived its original purpose and it creates an obstacle for small businesses. It is true that tax exemption is allowed for the first $675,000 that is left by the deceased. Therefore, a repeal of the estate tax would be a tax break for those who many consider rich. It is also true that some money escapes taxation due to loopholes in the tax code. Thus making the estate tax a way to make sure that all the wealth involved in the estate is taxed at least once. It is also true that the estate tax brings in revenue for the Federal government. However, those who say that the repeal of the estate tax is a tax cut for the rich may not have considered that family farmers are considered rich as far ... ...al of the estate tax would be made up in other taxes. So what is being done about the oppressiveness of the estate tax and the projected benefits of its repeal? Well just this last session a repeal of the estate tax passed both the house and the senate and was subsequently vetoed by President Clinton. (Thomas) The bill then went back to the house for a vote to overrule President Clinton’s veto. The vote to overrule the veto lost by 13 votes. (Tax Bites) This proves that many of your congressmen and women are pulling for you. This also proves that some are not. Victory for family farms small business owners, and philanthropists is close at hand, but it can only happen if you write your congressman urging him to support legislation that will repeal the estate tax, and by making your voice heard by voting for people who already support the repeal of the estate tax.

Mr. Stonefield is starting his own business in Austin, Texas, called Landslide Limousine Service. One of the fundamental elements to building this new business venture is creating a framework for performance management. The framework must include necessary employee job skills, the methods used for measuring these skills, the process for addressing skill gaps, and the approach for delivering effective performance feedback. It is important to understand how the performance management framework (PMF) aligns to the organizational business strategy. Mr. Stonefield previously stated he wants to provide first-class transportation to his customers. His goals are realistic for the first year with an anticipated -$50,000 in revenue, and 10% turnover. The success of the business’s performance management will ensure there will not be any additional lost revenue, and turnover stays at, or under target. The goals set in place lay the foundation for the future of this company, and a clearly defined PMF will foster highly engaged employees and lead to continual revenue growth. It is imperative Mr. Stonefield’s employees have the necessary job skills to allow Landslide Limousine to achieve its goals and gain a positive reputation. A job analysis is â€Å"The process of obtaining information about jobs, including the tasks to be done on the jobs as well as the personal characteristics necessary to do the tasks† (Cascio, 2013, p.690). Mr. Stonefield has elected Atwood and Allen Consulting to conduct the job analysis process to identify the skills his employees will need. The job analysis process, or in this case, processes, have been identified, but additional time is required to act out these processes. For Landslide Limousine Services, it was previously communicated that this strategy entailed providing first class transportation to its customers. Its prospective goals indicate a $50,000.00 first year net revenue, a 5% net revenue increase over the first few years, and a turnover rate of approximately 10%. In order to achieve the realistic goals set and for the business strategy to be met, you must consider what it would take to reach them. Understanding that employee loyalty will be an asset to the business is a good start. Saudi Arabia is a country that is known to attract religious visitors from around the world to take part in the yearly pilgrimage of Hajj or Umrah. The Middle East Respiratory Syndrome is a new infectious disease that is creating an uproar in the world because of the yearly gathering of around 3 to 4 million muslims to participate in Hajj and the year-long influx of pilgrims partaking in Umrah (Lessler et al., 2014). According to the European Centre of Disease Prevention and Control (2014), the first incident of MERS-Cov was reported from Saudi Arabia in June 2012. Recent reports from The World Health Organization as of May 13 indicated 1,180 confirmed cases within 25 countries, and a total of 483 deaths have been recorded thus far. At this point MERS-Cov has a 40% mortality rate that continues to rise as the death toll increases from new infectious cases.
